حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَمْرٍو مَرْوَانُ بْنُ شُجَاعٍ الْجَزَرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خُصَيْفٌ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ وَعَطَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ أخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَصَّرَ مِنْ شَعَرِهِ بِمِشْقَصٍ فَقُلْنَا لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ مَا بَلَغَنَا هَذَا إِلَّا عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ فَقَالَ مَا كَانَ مُعَاوِيَةُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُتَّهَمًا.
English Translation
Abu 'Amr Marwan ibn Shuja' al-Jazari narrated to us, saying: Khusayf narrated to us from Mujahid and 'Ata' from Ibn 'Abbas: that Mu'awiya informed him that he saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, shorten his hair with an arrowhead. We said to Ibn 'Abbas: 'This has not reached us except from Mu'awiya.' He said: 'Mu'awiya was never suspected regarding the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.'
