He said: Hajjaj told us, he said: Shu'bah told us, from Abu Imran, who said: I said to Jundub, "I have given my pledge of allegiance to these people" - meaning Ibn al-Zubayr - "and they want me to go out with them to Syria." He said, "Hold back." I said, "They refuse [to release me]." He said, "Ransom yourself with your wealth." I said, "They refuse anything except that I strike alongside them with the sword." Jundub said: So-and-so told me that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "The murdered person will come with his killer on the Day of Resurrection, and he will say, 'O Lord, ask this one why he killed me.'" Shu'bah said: I think he said: "And he will say, 'For what did you kill him?' and he will say, 'I killed him for the sake of the dominion of so-and-so.'" He said: Jundub said, "So beware of it."
