حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنَّ مَرْوَانَ قَالَ اذْهَبُوا فَأَصْلِحُوا بَيْنَ هَذَيْنِ لِسَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ وَأَرْوَى فَقَالَ سَعِيدٌ أَتُرَوْنِي أَخَذْتُ مِنْ حَقِّهَا شَيْئًا أَشْهَدُ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ أَخَذَ مِنْ الْأَرْضِ شِبْرًا بِغَيْرِ حَقِّهِ طُوِّقَهُ مِنْ سَبْعِ أَرَضِينَ وَمَنْ تَوَلَّى مَوْلَى قَوْمٍ بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهِمْ فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَمَنْ اقْتَطَعَ مَالَ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ بِيَمِينٍ فَلَا بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَهُ فِيهَا.
English Translation
Marwan said: 'Go and make peace between these two' — meaning Sa'id ibn Zayd and Arwa. Sa'id said: 'Do you think I would take any of her rights? I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: Whoever takes a hand span of land without right will have it hung around his neck from seven earths. Whoever becomes the patron of a people without their permission, upon him is the curse of Allah. And whoever seizes the wealth of a Muslim man by a false oath, may Allah not bless him in it.'
