قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ الْأَكْوَعِ قَالَ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى قَوْمٍ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ وَهُمْ يَتَنَاضَلُونَ فِي السُّوقِ فَقَالَ ارْمُوا يَا بَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ فَإِنَّ أَبَاكُمْ كَانَ رَامِيًا ارْمُوا وَأَنَا مَعَ بَنِي فُلَانٍ لِأَحَدِ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ فَأَمْسَكُوا أَيْدِيَهُمْ فَقَالَ ارْمُوا قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ نَرْمِي وَأَنْتَ مَعَ بَنِي فُلَانٍ قَالَ ارْمُوا وَأَنَا مَعَكُمْ كُلُّكُمْ.
English Translation
He said: Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Abi 'Ubayd, who said: Salamah ibn al-Akwa' narrated to me, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came out to some people of Aslam who were competing in archery in the marketplace, and he said: "Shoot, O children of Isma'il, for your father was an archer; shoot, and I am with Banu so-and-so" - for one of the two groups. So they held back their hands. He said: "Shoot." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, how can we shoot while you are with Banu so-and-so?" He said: "Shoot, and I am with all of you."
