قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي بُشَيْرُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي حَارِثَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ بْنِ نِيَارٍ قَالَ شَهِدْتُ الْعِيدَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فَخَالَفَتْ امْرَأَتِي حَيْثُ غَدَوْتُ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ إِلَى أُضْحِيَّتِي فَذَبَحَتْهَا وَصَنَعَتْ مِنْهَا طَعَامًا قَالَ فَلَمَّا صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَانْصَرَفْتُ إِلَيْهَا جَاءَتْنِي بِطَعَامٍ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ فَقُلْتُ أَنَّى هَذَا قَالَتْ أُضْحِيَّتُكَ ذَبَحْنَاهَا وَصَنَعْنَا لَكَ مِنْهَا طَعَامًا لِتَغَدَّى إِذَا جِئْتَ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهَا وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ خَشِيتُ أَنْ يَكُونَ هَذَا لَا يَنْبَغِي قَالَ فَجِئْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ لَيْسَتْ بِشَيْءٍ مَنْ ذَبَحَ قَبْلَ أَنْ نَفْرُغَ مِنْ نُسُكِنَا فَلَيْسَ بِشَيْءٍ فَضَحِّ قَالَ فَالْتَمَسْتُ مُسِنَّةً فَلَمْ أَجِدْهَا قَالَ فَجِئْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ الْتَمَسْتُ مُسِنَّةً فَمَا وَجَدْتُهَا قَالَ فَالْتَمِسْ جَذَعًا مِنْ الضَّأْنِ فَضَحِّ بِهِ قَالَ فَرَخَّصَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْجَذَعِ مِنْ الضَّأْنِ فَضَحَّى بِهِ حَيْثُ لَمْ يَجِدْ الْمُسِنَّةَ.
English Translation
He said: Ya'qub ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, who said: my father narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, who said: Bushayr ibn Yasar, the freed slave of Banu Harithah, narrated to me, from Abu Burdah ibn Niyar, who said: I attended the Eid [prayer] with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. He said: My wife disagreed with me, for while I went out early to the prayer, she went to my sacrificial animal and slaughtered it and prepared food from it. He said: When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had prayed with us and I returned to her, she brought me food already prepared. I said: "Where is this from?" She said: "Your sacrificial animal - we slaughtered it and prepared food from it for you to have when you come." He said: I said to her: "By Allah, I fear this may not be proper." He said: So I went to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and mentioned that to him, and he said: "It is nothing [i.e. does not count]. Whoever slaughters before we finish our rites, it does not count as anything, so sacrifice [again]." He said: So I sought an older animal but could not find one. He said: So I came to him and said: "By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, I have sought an older animal and could not find one." He said: "Then seek a yearling of the sheep and sacrifice it." He said: So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, granted him a concession regarding the yearling of the sheep, and he sacrificed it since he could not find an older animal.
