English Translation
Sa'd said: Umar asked permission to enter upon the Prophet (peace be upon him), and there were women with him whose voices were raised above his voice. He gave Umar permission, and the women hurried away. Umar entered and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was laughing. Umar said: 'May Allah make you laugh, O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be ransomed for you.' He said: 'I was amazed at the women who were with me — when they heard your voice, they rushed away.' Umar turned to them and said: 'O enemies of yourselves! By Allah, the Messenger of Allah was more deserving of your awe than me.' They said: 'Yes, you are harsher and more stern than the Messenger of Allah.' The Messenger of Allah said: 'Leave them alone, O Umar. By Allah, if Satan ever meets you on a path, he takes a different path from yours.' End of the hadiths of Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him).
