قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْبٌ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو قِلَابَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ثَابِتُ بْنُ الضَّحَّاكِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ وَكَانَ مِمَّنْ بَايَعَ تَحْتَ الشَّجَرَةِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ بِمِلَّةٍ سِوَى الْإِسْلَامِ كَاذِبًا فَهُوَ كَمَا قَالَ وَمَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسَهُ بِشَيْءٍ عُذِّبَ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَلَيْسَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ نَذْرٌ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ.
English Translation
Abd al-Samad told us: Harb told us: Yahya told us, who said: Abu Qilaba told me, who said: Thabit ibn al-Dahhak al-Ansari, who was among those who gave the pledge under the tree, told me, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever swears an oath falsely by a religion other than Islam, then he is as he said. And whoever kills himself with something will be punished with it on the Day of Resurrection. And there is no vow upon a man in what he does not possess."
