English Translation
Yazid narrated to us: Jarir b. Hazim informed us, from Muhammad b. Abi Ya'qub, from Abdullah b. Shaddad, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came out to us for one of the two afternoon prayers — Zuhr or Asr — carrying al-Hasan or al-Husayn. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, went forward and set him down, then said the takbir for prayer and prayed, and prostrated during his prayer with a prostration he prolonged. I said, "I raised my head, and there was the boy on the back of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while he was prostrating, so I returned to my prostration." When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had finished the prayer, the people said, "O Messenger of Allah, you prostrated during this prayer of yours with a prostration you prolonged; we thought something had happened, or that revelation was being sent to you." He said, "None of that happened; but my son climbed upon me, and I disliked to hurry him until he satisfied his need."
