حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي سُرَيْجُ بْنُ يُونُسَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ عَبَّادٍ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَدْعُو النَّاسَ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ بِذِي الْمَجَازِ وَخَلْفَهُ رَجُلٌ أَحْوَلُ يَقُولُ لَا يَغْلِبَنَّكُمْ هَذَا عَنْ دِينِكُمْ وَدِينِ آبَائِكُمْ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ مَنْ هَذَا الْأَحْوَلُ الَّذِي يَمْشِي خَلْفَهُ قَالَ هَذَا عَمُّهُ أَبُو لَهَبٍ قَالَ عَبَّادٌ أَظُنُّ بَيْنَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو وَبَيْنَ رَبِيعَةَ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ الْمُنْكَدِرِ.
English Translation
Abdullah narrated to us: Surayj b. Yunus narrated to me: Abbad b. Abbad narrated to us, from Muhammad b. Amr, from Rabi'ah b. Abbad, who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, calling people to Islam at Dhu al-Majaz, while behind him was a cross-eyed man saying, "Do not let this one overcome you regarding your religion and the religion of your fathers." I, being a boy, said to my father, "Who is this cross-eyed man walking behind him?" He said, "This is his uncle, Abu Lahab." Abbad said: I think between Muhammad b. Amr and Rabi'ah is Muhammad b. al-Munkadir.
