قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هَيْثَمُ بْنُ خَارِجَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْخُشَنِيُّ عَنْ بِشْرِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَالَ جَاءَ وَاثِلَةُ بْنُ الْأَسْقَعِ وَنَحْنُ نَبْنِي مَسْجِدَنَا قَالَ فَوَقَفَ عَلَيْنَا فَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ بَنَى مَسْجِدًا يُصَلَّى فِيهِ بَنَى اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَهُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَفْضَلَ مِنْهُ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ هَيْثَمِ بْنِ خَارِجَةَ.
English Translation
Haytham b. Kharijah narrated to us: Abu Abd al-Malik al-Hasan b. Yahya al-Khushani informed us, from Bishr b. Hayyan, who said: Wathilah b. al-Asqa' came while we were building our mosque. He stood by us and greeted us, then said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'Whoever builds a mosque in which prayer is performed, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will build for him something better than it in Paradise.'" Abu Abd al-Rahman said: I also heard it from Haytham b. Kharijah.
