English Translation
Abu Sa'id, freedman of Banu Hashim, narrated to us: Hammad b. Salamah narrated to us, from Ali b. Zayd, from Ammar b. Abi Ammar, from Abu Habbah al-Badri, who said: When [the verse] "Those who disbelieve among the People of the Scripture..." was revealed, Gabriel, peace be upon him, said, "O Muhammad, your Lord commands you to recite this surah to Ubayy b. Ka'b." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "O Ubayy, my Lord, Mighty and Majestic, has commanded me to recite this surah to you." He wept and said, "Was I mentioned there?" He said, "Yes."
