حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْخُزَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْأَشَجِّ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ بْنِ نِيَارٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَا يُجْلَدُ فَوْقَ عَشْرِ جَلَدَاتٍ إِلَّا فِي حَدٍّ مِنْ حُدُودِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَكَانَ لَيْثٌ حَدَّثَنَاهُ بِبَغْدَادَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ فَلَمَّا كُنَّا بِمِصْرَ أَخْبَرَنَا بُكَيْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْأَشَجِّ.
English Translation
Abu Salamah al-Khuza'i narrated to us: Layth narrated to us from Bukayr ibn Abdullah ibn al-Ashajj, from Sulayman ibn Yasar, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Jabir, from Abu Burdah ibn Niyar, who said: I heard the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, say: No one is to be flogged more than ten lashes except in a punishment among the punishments of God, Mighty and Sublime. Layth used to narrate this to us in Baghdad from Yazid ibn Abi Habib, from Bukayr, from Sulayman; but when we were in Egypt, Bukayr ibn Abdullah ibn al-Ashajj informed us directly.
