English Translation
Sa'id ibn Amir told us: Shu'bah told us, from Sa'id ibn Masruq, from Abayah ibn Rifa'ah ibn Rafi' ibn Khadij, from his grandfather Rafi' ibn Khadij, who said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, we are to meet the enemy tomorrow, and we have no knives with us." He said: "Whatever causes blood to flow, with Allah's name mentioned over it, eat it - except the tooth and the claw, and I will tell you why: as for the tooth, it is a bone, and as for the claw, it is the knife of the Abyssinians." He said: And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, obtained some plunder, and a camel from it bolted, and they ran after it but could not catch it, so a man shot it with an arrow and it was stopped. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "These camels" - or he said "this livestock" - "have some that turn wild like wild game; so whatever overcomes you [in that way], deal with it thus."
