حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ أَنَّ مَرْوَانَ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ يَغُوثَ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ أُبَيَّ بْنَ كَعْبٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مِنْ الشِّعْرِ حِكْمَةٌ وَكَانَ بَشِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ كَانَ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَكَأَنَّمَا تَنْضَحُونَهُمْ بِالنَّبْلِ فِيمَا تَقُولُونَ لَهُمْ مِنْ الشِّعْرِ.
English Translation
Abu al-Yaman told us, saying: Shu'ayb informed us, from al-Zuhri, who said: Abu Bakr ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Hisham told me that Marwan ibn al-Hakam informed him that Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Aswad ibn Abd Yaghuth informed him that Ubayy ibn Ka'b al-Ansari informed him that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is wisdom in poetry." And Bashir ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Ka'b used to relate that Ka'b ibn Malik used to relate that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "By the One in whose hand is my soul, it is as if you were piercing them with arrows through what you say to them in poetry."
