حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَخِي الْحَكَمُ بْنُ الْمُطَّلِبِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ قُهَيْدِ بْنِ مُطَرِّفٍ الْغِفَارِيِّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَأَلَهُ سَائِلٌ إِنْ عَدَا عَلَيَّ عَادٍ فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَنْهَاهُ ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ قَالَ فَإِنْ أَبَى فَأَمَرَهُ بِقِتَالِهِ قَالَ فَكَيْفَ بِنَا قَالَ إِنْ قَتَلَكَ فَأَنْتَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنْ قَتَلْتَهُ فَهُوَ فِي النَّارِ.
English Translation
Abu Amir Abd al-Malik ibn Amr told us: Abd al-Aziz ibn al-Muttalib ibn Abdullah told us: My brother al-Hakam ibn al-Muttalib told me, from his father, from Quhayd ibn Mutarrif al-Ghifari, that a questioner asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "If an aggressor attacks me..." He ordered him to warn him off three times. He said: "And if he refuses?" He ordered him to fight him. He said: "What then of us?" He said: "If he kills you, you are in Paradise; and if you kill him, he is in the Fire."
