English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq told us: Ma'mar ibn Hawshab told us: Isma'il ibn Umayyah told me, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: They had a slave named Tahman or Dhakwan, and his grandfather freed half of him. The slave came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "You are free according to the portion freed, and enslaved according to the portion still enslaved." He said: And he served his master until he died. Abd al-Razzaq said: Ma'mar - meaning Ibn Hawshab - was a righteous man.
