English Translation
Waki' told us, he said: I heard Hisham ibn Urwah, from his father, from Hakim ibn Hizam, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "The upper hand is better than the lower hand; begin with those you are responsible for; whoever seeks self-sufficiency, Allah will make him self-sufficient, and whoever seeks abstinence from asking, Allah will grant him abstinence."
