حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ عَنْ أَجْلَحَ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِعَائِشَةَ أَهَدَيْتُمْ الْجَارِيَةَ إِلَى بَيْتِهَا قَالَتْ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَهَلَّا بَعَثْتُمْ مَعَهُمْ مَنْ يُغَنِّيهِمْ يَقُولُ أَتَيْنَاكُمْ أَتَيْنَاكُمْ فَحَيُّونَا نُحَيَّاكُمْ فَإِنَّ الْأَنْصَارَ قَوْمٌ فِيهِمْ غَزَلٌ.
English Translation
Aswad ibn Amir told us, Abu Bakr told us, from Ajlah, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Aisha: "Did you send the girl to her house with a gift?" She said: "Yes." He said: "Why did you not send with them someone to sing to them, saying: 'We have come to you, we have come to you, so greet us and we shall greet you,' for the Ansar are a people fond of gentle verse."
