حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ عَنْ أَبِي عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَبَحَ يَوْمَ الْعِيدِ كَبْشَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَالَ حِينَ وَجَّهَهُمَا إِنِّي وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِيَ لِلَّذِي فَطَرَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ حَنِيفًا مُسْلِمًا وَمَا أَنَا مِنْ الْمُشْرِكِينَ إِنَّ صَلَاتِي وَنُسُكِي وَمَحْيَايَ وَمَمَاتِي لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَبِذَلِكَ أُمِرْتُ وَأَنَا أَوَّلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُمَّ مِنْكَ وَلَكَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ وَأُمَّتِهِ.
English Translation
Ya'qub told us, my father told us, from Ibn Ishaq, Yazid ibn Abi Habib al-Misri told me, from Khalid ibn Abi 'Imran, from Abu 'Ayyash, from Jabir ibn 'Abdullah al-Ansari, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, slaughtered two rams on the Day of the Festival. When he turned them, he said, "I have turned my face towards Him Who created the heavens and the earth, as one inclining towards truth in submission, and I am not of those who associate partners with Allah. Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds, He has no partner, and this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims. In the name of Allah, Allah is greatest. O Allah, from You and for You, on behalf of Muhammad and his nation."
