English Translation
Hasan ibn Musa told us, Abu Shihab informed us, from Yahya ibn Sa'id, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, who said: I was with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in the year of al-Ji'ranah, while he was distributing silver from Bilal's garment to the people. A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, be just!" He said: "Woe to you! Who would be just if I am not just? I would indeed have failed if I were not just." Umar said: "O Messenger of Allah, let me kill this hypocrite." He said: "God forbid that people should say I kill my companions! This man and his companions recite the Qur'an, but it does not pass beyond their throats" - or "their collarbones" - "they will pass out of the religion as an arrow passes through its prey."
