حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ جَابِرًا عَنْ الرَّجُلِ يَتَوَلَّى مَوْلَى الرَّجُلِ بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهِ فَقَالَ كَتَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى كُلِّ بَطْنٍ عُقُولَهُمْ ثُمَّ كَتَبَ إِنَّهُ لَا يَحِلُّ أَنْ يُتَوَلَّى مَوْلَى رَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهِ.
English Translation
Hasan told us, Ibn Lahi'ah told us, Abu al-Zubayr told us: I asked Jabir about a man who takes as his own client the freed slave of another man without his permission. He said, "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, wrote for every clan its blood-money obligations, and then he wrote that it is not lawful for anyone to take as client the freed slave of a Muslim man without his permission."
