حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَفْضَلُ الصَّدَقَةِ عَنْ ظَهْرِ غِنًى وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ وَالْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى.
English Translation
Rawh told us, Ibn Jurayj told us, Abu al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir ibn Abdullah say: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The best charity is that given out of surplus wealth. Begin with those you are responsible for, and the upper hand is better than the lower hand."
