English Translation
Muhammad ibn Bakr told us, Ibn Jurayj informed us, Abu al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir ibn Abdullah say: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, when he gave a sermon, used to lean against a palm trunk among the pillars of the mosque. When the pulpit was made for him and he stood upon it, the trunk trembled like the moaning of a she-camel, until the people of the mosque heard it. So the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, came down to it and embraced it, and it became still. Abd al-Razzaq and Rawh said: "that pillar trembled." Rawh said: "he embraced it and it became still." Abd al-Razzaq said: "it fell silent."
