حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ وَذَكَرَ أَنَّ الْعَدُوَّ كَانُوا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ وَإِنَّا صَفَفْنَا خَلْفَهُ صَفَّيْنِ فَكَبَّرَ وَكَبَّرْنَا مَعَهُ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ رَكَعَ وَرَكَعْنَا مَعَهُ جَمِيعًا فَلَمَّا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنْ الرُّكُوعِ سَجَدَ وَسَجَدَ مَعَهُ الصَّفُّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ وَقَامَ الصَّفُّ الْمُؤَخَّرُ فِي نَحْرِ الْعَدُوِّ فَلَمَّا قَامَ وَقَامَ مَعَهُ الصَّفُّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ انْحَدَرَ الصَّفُّ الْمُؤَخَّرُ بِالسُّجُودِ ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ الصَّفُّ الْمُؤَخَّرُ وَتَأَخَّرَ الصَّفُّ الْمُقَدَّمُ فَرَكَعَ وَرَكَعْنَا مَعَهُ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ سَجَدَ وَسَجَدَ مَعَهُ الصَّفُّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ فَلَمَّا سَجَدَ الصَّفُّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ وَجَلَسَ انْحَدَرَ الصَّفُّ الْمُؤَخَّرُ بِالسُّجُودِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ وَسَلَّمْنَا جَمِيعًا قَالَ جَابِرٌ كَمَا يَفْعَلُ حَرَسُكُمْ هَؤُلَاءِ بِأُمَرَائِهِمْ.
English Translation
Yahya told us, from Abd al-Malik: Ata' told me, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, that he prayed the prayer of fear (salat al-khawf) with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he related that the enemy was between him and the qiblah, and we formed two rows behind him. He said the takbir and we all said the takbir with him; then he bowed and we all bowed with him. When he raised his head from bowing, he prostrated, and the row nearest him prostrated with him, while the rear row stood facing the enemy. When he stood, and the row nearest him stood with him, the rear row went down in prostration; then the rear row moved forward and the front row moved back. Then he bowed and we all bowed with him, then he prostrated and the row nearest him prostrated with him; and when the row nearest him had prostrated and sat, the rear row went down in prostration. Then he gave the salam and we all gave the salam together. Jabir said: "Just as your guards do with their commanders."
