Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ إِنَّمَا جَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الشُّفْعَةَ فِي كُلِّ مَالٍ لَمْ يُقْسَمْ فَإِذَا وَقَعَتْ الْحُدُودُ وَصُرِّفَتْ الطُّرُقُ فَلَا شُفْعَةَ.
English Translation
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'The most merciful of my ummah toward it is Abu Bakr; the strongest of them in the religion of Allah is Umar; the most genuinely modest of them is Uthman; the most knowledgeable of them in halal and haram is Mu'adh ibn Jabal; the most knowledgeable of them in the laws of inheritance is Zayd ibn Thabit; the most knowledgeable of them in Quran recitation is Ubayy ibn Ka'b; and every ummah has a trustworthy one, and the trustworthy one of this ummah is Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah.'
