English Translation
The people said: 'O Messenger of Allah, our livestock have perished and we are suffering drought. Pray to Allah for rain for us.' He stood on Friday while on the pulpit and prayed for rain — Hammad described how he spread his hands in front of his chest with the backs of his palms facing the ground — and there was not a single cloud in the sky. Before he left, it rained so heavily that even a strong young man was concerned about getting home. It rained until the following Friday, when they said: 'O Messenger of Allah, buildings are collapsing and travelers are stranded. Pray to Allah to remove it from us.' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) laughed and said: 'O Allah, around us and not upon us.' The clouds parted until Madinah was as if surrounded by a crown.
