English Translation
Ahmad ibn Abd al-Malik told us, Zuhayr told us, Humayd al-Tawil told us, from Anas, who said: There were words between Khalid ibn al-Walid and Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf. Khalid said to Abd al-Rahman: "You boast over us because of some days in which you preceded us." That reached the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said: "Leave my companions alone, for by Him in whose hand is my soul, if you were to spend the like of Uhud, or the like of the mountains, in gold, you would not attain their deeds."
