English Translation

Mu'ammal told us: Hammad told us: Thabit told us, from Anas ibn Malik, that the Jews entered upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said, 'Death be upon you.' The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, 'And upon you.' A'isha said, 'Death be upon you, O brothers of apes and pigs, and the curse and wrath of God!' He said, 'O A'isha, gently!' She said, 'O Messenger of God, did you not hear what they said?' He said, 'Did you not hear what I said back to them? O A'isha, gentleness never enters into anything but that it adorns it, and it is never removed from anything but that it disgraces it.'
