English Translation
Hasan told us: Hammad ibn Salama told us, from Thabit al-Bunani, from Anas ibn Malik, that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'A man from the people of Paradise will be brought on the Day of Resurrection, and God, Mighty and Majestic, will say: "O son of Adam, how did you find your dwelling?" He will say, "O Lord, the best dwelling." He will say to him, "Ask and wish for something." He will say, "I ask and wish for nothing except that You return me to the world so that I may be killed as a martyr," because of what he saw of the excellence of martyrdom. Then a man from the people of the Fire will be brought, and it will be said to him, "O son of Adam, how did you find your dwelling?" He will say, "O Lord, the worst dwelling." He will say, "Would you ransom yourself from it with the fill of the earth in gold?" He will say, "Yes, O Lord." He will say, "You have lied; I asked of you something less than that, and you did not do it." So he will be returned to the Fire.'
