حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ قَالَ سُئِلَ سَعِيدٌ عَنْ الْوِصَالِ فَأَخْبَرَنَا عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَلَا لَا تُوَاصِلُوا قِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ إِنَّ رَبِّي يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِي.
English Translation
Abd al-Wahhab told us: Sa'id was asked about continuous fasting without breaking it, and he informed us, from Qatada, from Anas, that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'Do not fast continuously without breaking your fast.' It was said to him, 'But you fast continuously, O Messenger of God.' He said, 'I am not like any of you; my Lord feeds me and gives me drink.'
