حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ قَالَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ قَالَ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَصْحَابَ الْكِتَابِ يُسَلِّمُونَ عَلَيْنَا فَكَيْفَ نَرُدُّ عَلَيْهِمْ قَالَ قُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ.
English Translation
Hashim told us: Shu'ba told us, from Qatada, who said: Anas ibn Malik said: The companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: O Messenger of Allah, the People of the Book greet us - so how should we return their greeting? He said: Say, And upon you.
