حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاةٍ فَإِنَّهُ يُنَاجِي رَبَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَلَا يَبْزُقَنَّ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ يَبْصُقَنَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلَكِنْ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ وَتَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ.
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us: Shu'bah and Hajjaj told us — Hajjaj said: Shu'bah told me — I heard Qatadah narrating from Anas ibn Malik, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "When any of you is in prayer, he is indeed whispering to his Lord, Mighty and Majestic, so let him not spit" — Hajjaj said: "spit" — "in front of him, nor to his right, but to his left or beneath his foot."
