حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمْ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَخَفَّفَ بِهِمْ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ فَأَطَالَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَخَفَّفَ بِهِمْ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ فَأَطَالَ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحْنَا قُلْنَا يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ جَلَسْنَا اللَّيْلَةَ فَخَرَجْتَ إِلَيْنَا فَخَفَّفْتَ ثُمَّ دَخَلْتَ فَأَطَلْتَ قَالَ مِنْ أَجْلِكُمْ.
English Translation
Aswad ibn Amir told us, Hammad ibn Salamah told us, from Thumamah, from Anas, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came out to them in Ramadan and prayed briefly with them, then went in and stayed long, then came out and prayed briefly with them, then went in and stayed long. When morning came, we said, "O Prophet of Allah, we sat last night; you came out to us and were brief, then you went in and stayed long." He said, "It was for your sake."
