English Translation
Ibn Abi Adiyy narrated to us from Humayd, from Anas, who said: When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, set out to Badr, he went out and consulted the people. Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, gave his opinion; then he consulted them again, and Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, gave his opinion; but he remained silent. Then a man from the Ansar said, "It is you he means." So they said, "O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, we will not be like the Children of Israel said to Musa, peace be upon him: 'Go, you and your Lord, and fight; we will sit here.' But by Allah, if you were to strike the livers of the camels until you reached Bark al-Ghimad, we would be with you."
