English Translation
Isma'il narrated to us, Abd al-Aziz narrated to us from Anas: that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, raided Khaybar, and we prayed the dawn prayer near it while it was still dark. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, rode, and Abu Talha rode, and I was riding behind Abu Talha. The Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, made his mount trot through the lane of Khaybar, and my knees were touching the thighs of the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. His waist-wrapper was uncovered from his thighs, so that I could see the whiteness of the thighs of the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. When he entered the village he said, "Allah is Greatest! Khaybar is destroyed! When we descend in the courtyard of a people, evil is the morning of those who have been warned." He said this three times. He said: The people had gone out to their work, and they cried, "Muhammad!" Abd al-Aziz said: Some of our companions said "the army." He said: We took it by force, and the captives were gathered. He said: Dihyah came and said, "O Prophet of Allah, give me a slave-girl from the captives." He said, "Go and take a slave-girl." He said: So he took Safiyyah bint Huyayy. A man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said, "O Messenger of Allah, you have given Dihyah Safiyyah bint Huyayy, the mistress of Qurayzah and al-Nadir; by Allah, she is fit for none but you." So he, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Call him with her." He brought her, and when the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, looked at her, he said, "Take another slave-girl from the captives instead of her." Then the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, freed her and married her. Thabit said to him, "O Abu Hamzah, what was her dowry?" He said, "Her freedom itself; he freed her and married her." When they were on the road, Umm Sulaym prepared her and sent her to him at night, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, awoke as a bridegroom. He said, "Whoever has something, let him bring it." He spread out a leather mat, and one man brought dried curd, another brought dates, another brought clarified butter. He said: I think he also mentioned parched barley meal. He said: So they mixed a dish of hays, and that was the wedding feast of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
