حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَحَجَّاجٌ حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْمُتَوَكِّلِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَخِي انْطَلَقَ بَطْنُهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْقِهِ عَسَلًا فَسَقَاهُ فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقَيْتُهُ فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُ إِلَّا اسْتِطْلَاقًا فَقَالَ لَهُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ثُمَّ جَاءَهُ الرَّابِعَةَ فَقَالَ اسْقِهِ عَسَلًا فَقَالَ قَدْ سَقَيْتُهُ فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُ إِلَّا اسْتِطْلَاقًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَكَذَبَ بَطْنُ أَخِيكَ فَسَقَاهُ فَبَرِئَ حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ.
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us, Shu'ba told us, and Hajjaj - Shu'ba told me - from Qatada, from Abu al-Mutawakkil - Hajjaj said in his hadith: "I heard Abu al-Mutawakkil" - from Abu Sa'id, who said: "A man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: 'My brother's stomach is loose.' The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'Give him honey to drink.' So he gave it to him. Then he said: 'I gave it to him, and it only increased his looseness.' So he said the same to him three times. Then he came the fourth time, and he said: 'Give him honey to drink.' He said: 'I have given it to him, and it only increased his looseness.' So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'Allah has spoken the truth, and your brother's stomach has lied.' So he gave it to him, and he recovered." Rawh told us, Shu'ba told us, from Qatada, from Abu al-Mutawakkil, from Abu Sa'id, that a man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he mentioned its meaning.
