English Translation
Yazid told us, al-Qasim ibn al-Fadl al-Huddani informed us, from Abu Nadra, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: "A wolf attacked a sheep and seized it. The shepherd pursued it and snatched it away from it. Then the wolf sat back on its haunches and said: 'Do you not fear Allah, taking from me a provision that Allah drove to me?' He said: 'How amazing - a wolf sitting back on its haunches speaking to me with human speech!' The wolf said: 'Shall I tell you of something more amazing than that? Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, is in Yathrib telling the people news of what has passed.'" He said: "So the shepherd came, driving his sheep, until he entered Madina, and he penned them into a corner of it. Then he went to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and informed him. So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered, and the call was made: 'The gathering prayer,' then he came out and said to the shepherd: 'Tell them.' So he told them, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'He has spoken the truth. By the One in whose hand is my soul, the Hour will not come until wild beasts speak to people, and the strap of a man's whip and the thong of his sandal speak to him, and his thigh informs him of what his family did after he left.'"
