English Translation
Yazid told us, Hisham informed us, from Muhammad, from his brother Ma'bad ibn Sirin, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: "We stopped at a place, and a woman came to us and said: 'The chief of the tribe has been stung; is there among you one who can perform a healing recitation?' So a man among us got up with her, one whom we did not think knew how to recite well. He went along with her and recited over him, and he recovered. So they gave him thirty sheep." He said: "And I think he also said: 'They gave us milk to drink.' When he returned to us we said to him: 'Did you know how to recite well?' He said: 'No, I only recited over him the Opening of the Book.'" He said: "So I said to them: 'Do not do anything with it until we come to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.' When we arrived, we came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and I mentioned that to him, and he said: 'How did he know that it was a healing recitation? Divide it up, and give me a share along with you.'"
