English Translation
Waki' told us: Ubaydullah ibn Abdur-Rahman ibn Mawhab told us, from his uncle, from a freedman of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, that he was with Abu Sa'id while Abu Sa'id was with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. He said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, entered and saw a man sitting in the middle of the mosque interlacing his fingers, talking to himself. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, gestured to him, but he did not notice. He said: Then he turned to Abu Sa'id and said, "When one of you prays, let him not interlace his fingers, for interlacing is from Satan. Indeed, one of you remains in a state of prayer as long as he stays in the mosque, until he leaves it."
