حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الرَّبْعِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْجَوْزَاءِ غَيْرَ مَرَّةٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ الصَّرْفِ يَدًا بِيَدٍ فَقَالَ لَا بَأْسَ بِذَلِكَ اثْنَيْنِ بِوَاحِدٍ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَأَقَلُّ قَالَ ثُمَّ حَجَجْتُ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى وَالشَّيْخُ حَيٌّ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ الصَّرْفِ فَقَالَ وَزْنًا بِوَزْنٍ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّكَ قَدْ أَفْتَيْتَنِي اثْنَيْنِ بِوَاحِدٍ فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أُفْتِي بِهِ مُنْذُ أَفْتَيْتَنِي فَقَالَ إِنَّ ذَلِكَ كَانَ عَنْ رَأْيِي وَهَذَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَتَرَكْتُ رَأْيِي إِلَى حَدِيثِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
English Translation
Yazid ibn Harun told us: Sulayman ibn Ali al-Rab'i informed us: Abu al-Jawza' told us, more than once, saying: I asked Ibn Abbas about the exchange of money hand to hand, and he said, "There is no harm in that - two for one, or more or less than that." He said: Then I performed Hajj another time, and the shaykh was still alive, so I came to him and asked him about money exchange. He said, "Weight for weight." I said, "You gave me a ruling of two for one, and I have not ceased giving that ruling since you gave it to me." He said, "That was based on my own opinion, but here is Abu Sa'id al-Khudri narrating from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, so I have abandoned my opinion for the hadith of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him."
