حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا لَيْثٌ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ الْهَادِ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ إِبْلِيسَ قَالَ لِرَبِّهِ بِعِزَّتِكَ وَجَلَالِكَ لَا أَبْرَحُ أُغْوِي بَنِي آدَمَ مَا دَامَتْ الْأَرْوَاحُ فِيهِمْ فَقَالَ اللَّهُ فَبِعِزَّتِي وَجَلَالِي لَا أَبْرَحُ أَغْفِرُ لَهُمْ مَا اسْتَغْفَرُونِي.
English Translation
Abu Salamah told us: Layth informed us, from Yazid ibn al-Had, from 'Amr, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: I heard the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Iblis said to his Lord: 'By Your might and majesty, I will not cease to lead the children of Adam astray as long as their spirits are in them.' God said: 'Then by My might and majesty, I will not cease to forgive them as long as they seek My forgiveness.'"
