English Translation
Muhammad ibn Idris - meaning al-Shafi'i - told us, he said: Malik informed us, from Dawud ibn al-Husayn, from Abu Sufyan, client of Abu Ahmad, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri: that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade al-muzabanah and al-muhaqalah. Al-muzabanah is buying dried dates for dates still on the palm trees, and al-muhaqalah is leasing land in exchange for wheat.
