English Translation
Sufyan told us, from al-Zuhri, from Humayd ibn Abd al-Rahman, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri: that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saw phlegm on the qiblah wall of the mosque, so he scraped it off with a pebble, then forbade a man from spitting in front of himself or to his right, and said: "Let him spit to his left or beneath his left foot."
