English Translation

Aishah reported: A man sought permission to enter upon the Prophet (peace be upon him), and he said: 'Let him in. What a bad brother of his clan!' When the man entered, the Prophet spoke to him gently (in another narration: he was cordial with him). I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! You said what you said, then you spoke to him gently!' He said: 'O Aishah! Indeed, the worst of people is the one whom people abandon — or leave alone — to avoid his foulness.' (In a third narration: 'Indeed, Allah does not love the one who is obscene and seeks to be obscene.')
