حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ سُحَيْمٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَشَفَ السِّتَارَةَ وَالنَّاسُ صُفُوفٌ خَلْفَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَبْقَ مِنْ مُبَشِّرَاتِ النُّبُوَّةِ إِلاَّ الرُّؤْيَا الصَّالِحَةُ يَرَاهَا الْمُسْلِمُ أَوْ تُرَى لَهُ وَإِنِّي نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَقْرَأَ رَاكِعًا أَوْ سَاجِدًا فَأَمَّا الرُّكُوعُ فَعَظِّمُوا الرَّبَّ فِيهِ وَأَمَّا السُّجُودُ فَاجْتَهِدُوا فِي الدُّعَاءِ فَقَمِنٌ أَنْ يُسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ " .
English Translation
Hadrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) drew aside the curtain while the people were standing in rows behind Hadrat Abu Bakr (al-Siddiq, may Allah be well pleased with him). He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: 'O people, nothing remains of the glad tidings of prophethood except the righteous dream that a Muslim sees or is shown to him. Indeed, I have been forbidden from reciting (the Quran) while bowing or prostrating. In ruku, glorify the Lord, and in sujud, strive in supplication — it is likely that your supplication will be answered.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابنِ عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے پردہ ہٹایا جبکہ لوگ حضرت ابوبکر (صدیق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) کے پیچھے صفوں میں کھڑے تھے۔ ارشاد فرمایا: اے لوگو! نبوت کی بشارتوں میں سے اب صرف نیک خواب باقی رہ گیا ہے جو مسلمان دیکھے یا اس کے لیے دکھایا جائے۔ اور بے شک مجھے منع کیا گیا ہے کہ رکوع یا سجدے کی حالت میں (قرآن) پڑھوں۔ رکوع میں رب کی تعظیم کرو، اور سجدے میں دعا کی کوشش کرو — اُمید ہے کہ تمہاری دعا قبول ہو گی۔
