حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ - عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلاَبَةَ، قَالَ جَاءَنَا أَبُو سُلَيْمَانَ مَالِكُ بْنُ الْحُوَيْرِثِ إِلَى مَسْجِدِنَا فَقَالَ وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لأُصَلِّي بِكُمْ وَمَا أُرِيدُ الصَّلاَةَ وَلَكِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُرِيَكُمْ كَيْفَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يُصَلِّي . قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي قِلاَبَةَ كَيْفَ صَلَّى قَالَ مِثْلَ صَلاَةِ شَيْخِنَا هَذَا يَعْنِي عَمْرَو بْنَ سَلِمَةَ إِمَامَهُمْ وَذَكَرَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ السَّجْدَةِ الآخِرَةِ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الأُولَى قَعَدَ ثُمَّ قَامَ .
English Translation
Abu Qilabah narrates: 'Abu Sulayman Malik ibn al-Huwayth (may Allah be well pleased with him) came to our mosque and said: "By Allah, I shall pray before you, though I do not intend the (obligatory) prayer itself. Rather, I wish to show you how I saw the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) pray."' (Ayyub) said: 'I asked Abu Qilabah: How was his prayer?' He said: 'Like the prayer of this elder of ours (meaning 'Amr ibn Salamah, their imam).' And he mentioned that when he raised his head from the last prostration in the first rak'ah, he would sit (briefly) and then stand up (i.e., he would observe the sitting of rest — jalsat al-istirahah).'
Urdu Translation
ابوقلابہ فرماتے ہیں: ابوسلیمان مالک بن حویرث (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) ہماری مسجد میں تشریف لائے اور فرمایا: اللہ کی قسم! میں تمہیں نماز پڑھا کر دکھاتا ہوں حالانکہ مجھے (فرض) نماز مقصود نہیں، لیکن میں تمہیں دکھانا چاہتا ہوں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو کیسے نماز پڑھتے دیکھا۔ (ایوب نے) کہا: میں نے ابوقلابہ سے پوچھا: کیسی نماز تھی؟ فرمایا: ہمارے اس شیخ (عمرو بن سلمہ) کی نماز جیسی — اور ذکر کیا کہ وہ جب پہلی رکعت میں آخری سجدے سے سر اٹھاتے تو بیٹھتے پھر کھڑے ہوتے (یعنی جلسۂ استراحت کرتے)۔
