حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَتَبَ إِلَى هِرَقْلَ " مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ إِلَى هِرَقْلَ عَظِيمِ الرُّومِ سَلاَمٌ عَلَى مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الْهُدَى " . قَالَ ابْنُ يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَى هِرَقْلَ فَأَجْلَسَنَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِكِتَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَإِذَا فِيهِ " بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ إِلَى هِرَقْلَ عَظِيمِ الرُّومِ سَلاَمٌ عَلَى مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الْهُدَى أَمَّا بَعْدُ " .
English Translation
Hadrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) wrote to Heraclius (the Emperor of Rome): From Muhammad, the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), to Heraclius, the leader of the Romans. Peace be upon those who follow guidance. In the narration of Ibn Yahya, from Hadrat Ibn Abbas, Abu Sufyan informed him, saying: We entered upon Heraclius and he seated us before him, then he called for the letter of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). In it was written: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. From Muhammad, the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), to Heraclius, the leader of the Romans. Peace be upon those who follow guidance. To proceed.
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ہرقل (قیصرِ روم) کو خط لکھا: محمد رسول اللہ کی طرف سے ہرقل عظیم الروم کی طرف، سلام ہو اس پر جس نے ہدایت کی پیروی کی۔ ابن یحیٰ کی روایت میں حضرت ابن عباس سے ہے کہ حضرت ابوسفیان نے انہیں خبر دی، فرماتے ہیں: ہم ہرقل کے پاس داخل ہوئے تو اس نے ہمیں اپنے سامنے بیٹھایا، پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا خط منگوایا، اس میں لکھا تھا: بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ، محمد رسول اللہ کی طرف سے ہرقل عظیم الروم کی طرف، سلام ہو اس پر جس نے ہدایت کی پیروی کی، اما بعد۔
