حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ شَيْبَانَ، عَنْ فِرَاسٍ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ مَسْجِدَ النَّبِيِّ، صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَتْ سَوَارِيهِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ جُذُوعِ النَّخْلِ أَعْلاَهُ مُظَلَّلٌ بِجَرِيدِ النَّخْلِ ثُمَّ إِنَّهَا نَخِرَتْ فِي خِلاَفَةِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَبَنَاهَا بِجُذُوعِ النَّخْلِ وَبِجَرِيدِ النَّخْلِ ثُمَّ إِنَّهَا نَخِرَتْ فِي خِلاَفَةِ عُثْمَانَ فَبَنَاهَا بِالآجُرِّ فَلَمْ تَزَلْ ثَابِتَةً حَتَّى الآنَ .
English Translation
Hadrat Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrates that the pillars of the mosque of the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) during his blessed lifetime were made of the trunks of palm trees, and its upper part was of palm branches. They decayed during the time of Hadrat Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be well pleased with him), so he rebuilt them with new palm trunks and branches. They decayed again during the time of Hadrat Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be well pleased with him), who also rebuilt them with palm trunks and branches. Then they decayed during the time of Hadrat Uthman (may Allah be well pleased with him), who rebuilt them with stone and plaster, and they remain standing to this day.
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے عہدِ مبارک میں مسجدِ نبوی شریف کے ستون کھجور کے تنوں کے تھے، اوپر کا حصہ کھجور کی شاخوں سے بنایا گیا تھا۔ پھر وہ حضرت ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے زمانے میں بوسیدہ ہو گئے تو انہوں نے کھجور کے نئے تنوں اور شاخوں سے تعمیر فرمائی۔ پھر حضرت عمر فاروق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے دور میں بھی یہ بوسیدہ ہوئے تو انہوں نے بھی کھجور کے تنوں اور شاخوں سے بنوایا۔ پھر حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے دور میں یہ پھر بوسیدہ ہوئے تو انہوں نے پتھر اور چونے سے تعمیر فرمائی اور وہ آج تک قائم ہیں۔
