It is narrated by Hadrat Nu'aym ibn Huzzal that Yazid ibn Nu'aym ibn Huzzal, on his father's authority said: Ma'iz ibn Malik was an orphan under the protection of my father. He had illegal sexual intercourse with a slave-girl belonging to a clan. My father said to him: Go to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and inform him of what you have done, for he may perhaps ask Allah for your forgiveness. His purpose in that was simply a hope that it might be a way of escape for him. So he went to him and said: Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! I have committed fornication, so inflict on me the punishment ordained by Allah. He (the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)) turned away from him, so he came back and said: Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! I have committed fornication, so inflict on me the punishment ordained by Allah. He (again) turned away from him, so he came back and said: Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! I have committed fornication, so inflict on me the punishment ordained by Allah. When he uttered it four times, the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: You have said it four times. With whom did you commit it? He replied: With so and so. He asked: Did you lie down with her? He replied: Yes. He asked: Had your skin been in contact with hers? He replied. Yes. He asked: Did you have intercourse with her? He said: Yes. So he (the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)) gave orders that he should be stoned to death. He was then taken out to the Harrah, and while he was being stoned he felt the effect of the stones and could not bear it and fled. But Abdullah ibn Unays encountered him when those who had been stoning him could not catch up with him. He threw the bone of a camel's foreleg at him, which hit him and killed him. They then went to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and reported it to him. He said: Why did you not leave him alone. Perhaps he might have repented and been forgiven by Allah

حضرت نعیم بن ہزال بن یزید اسلمی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما فرماتے ہیں کہ میرے والد کی گود میں ماعز بن مالک یتیم تھے محلہ کی ایک لڑکی سے انہوں نے زنا کیا، ان سے میرے والد نے کہا: جاؤ جو تم نے کیا ہے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو بتا دو، ہو سکتا ہے وہ تمہارے لیے اللہ سے مغفرت کی دعا کریں، اس سے وہ یہ چاہتے تھے کہ ان کے لیے کوئی سبیل نکلے چنانچہ وہ آپ کے پاس آئے اور انہوں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! میں نے زنا کر لیا ہے مجھ پر اللہ کی کتاب کو قائم کیجئے، آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ان سے اپنا چہرہ پھیر لیا، پھر وہ دوبارہ آئے اور انہوں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! میں نے زنا کر لیا ہے، مجھ پر اللہ کی کتاب کو قائم کیجئے، یہاں تک کہ ایسے ہی چار بار انہوں نے عرض کیا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ان سے فرمایا: تم چار بار کہہ چکے کہ میں نے زنا کر لیا ہے تو یہ بتاؤ کہ کس سے کیا ہے؟ انہوں نے عرض کیا: فلاں عورت سے، آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: کیا تم اس کے ساتھ سوئے تھے؟ ماعز نے کہا: ہاں، آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے پوچھا: کیا تم اس سے چمٹے تھے؟ انہوں نے کہا: ہاں، پھر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے پوچھا: کیا تم نے اس سے جماع کیا تھا؟ انہوں نے کہا: ہاں، تو آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے انہیں رجم ( سنگسار ) کئے جانے کا حکم دیا، انہیں حرہ ۱؎ میں لے جایا گیا، جب لوگ انہیں پتھر مارنے لگے تو وہ پتھروں کی اذیت سے گھبرا کے بھاگے، تو وہ عبداللہ بن انیس کے سامنے آ گئے، ان کے ساتھی تھک چکے تھے، تو انہوں نے اونٹ کا کھر نکال کر انہیں مارا تو انہیں مار ہی ڈالا، پھر نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس آئے، اور ان سے اسے بیان کیا، تو آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: تم نے اسے چھوڑ کیوں نہیں دیا ۲؎، شاید وہ توبہ کرتا اور اللہ اس کی توبہ قبول کر لیتا ۔
