حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، قَالَ صَلَّيْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم صَلاَةَ الْعَتَمَةِ فَلَمْ يَخْرُجْ حَتَّى مَضَى نَحْوٌ مِنْ شَطْرِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ " خُذُوا مَقَاعِدَكُمْ " . فَأَخَذْنَا مَقَاعِدَنَا فَقَالَ " إِنَّ النَّاسَ قَدْ صَلَّوْا وَأَخَذُوا مَضَاجِعَهُمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَزَالُوا فِي صَلاَةٍ مَا انْتَظَرْتُمُ الصَّلاَةَ وَلَوْلاَ ضَعْفُ الضَّعِيفِ وَسَقَمُ السَّقِيمِ لأَخَّرْتُ هَذِهِ الصَّلاَةَ إِلَى شَطْرِ اللَّيْلِ " .
English Translation
Hadrat Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrates: 'We (intended to) pray the Isha prayer with the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), but he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) did not come out until nearly half the night had passed. Then he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "Take your places." We sat in our places. Then he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "The people have prayed and gone to sleep, but you have been in prayer ever since you were waiting for it. Were it not for the weakness of the weak and the illness of the sick, I would have delayed this prayer until half the night."'
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں: ہم نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ عشاء کی نماز (پڑھنا چاہی) مگر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم باہر تشریف نہیں لائے یہاں تک کہ تقریباً آدھی رات ہو گئی۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اپنی اپنی جگہ بیٹھے رہو۔ ہم اپنی جگہوں پر بیٹھ گئے۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: لوگوں نے نماز پڑھ لی اور سو گئے، اور تم جب سے نماز کا انتظار کر رہے ہو تب سے نماز ہی میں ہو۔ اگر مجھے کمزور کی کمزوری اور بیمار کی بیماری کا خیال نہ ہوتا تو میں اس نماز کو آدھی رات تک مؤخر کرتا۔
